This website

This site sets no cookies and runs no advertising or cross-site tracking. It uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views and records the page, the referring site, the country, the type of device, the browser and operating system, and how fast the page loaded. It does not store your IP address or anything that identifies you, and we can't see who you are.

The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes basic connection information, like your IP address, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.

When you contact us

If you email us or use the form on our contact page, we receive your name, your email address, your website address if you gave one, and your message. The form sends that to both of us as an email through Cloudflare, and it arrives in our Gmail inboxes. That email also shows a rough location (city, region and country) that Cloudflare works out from your internet connection. When we reply, our email goes out through an email delivery service called SMTP2GO. We use what you send only to reply to you and, if we work together, to do that work. We don't sell it, share it, or add you to a mailing list.

Cloudflare keeps short-lived logs for the form. If the email to us fails to send, the log holds your name, email, website and the first 500 characters of your message, so we can still reply. The same goes for a message the form holds back as likely spam, such as a message sent from outside the US that doesn't mention the Quad Cities. If a hidden spam trap on the form gets filled in, the log holds the name, email and IP address that came with it. The form also uses your IP address to limit how many times it can be sent in a minute. Cloudflare deletes these logs within a week.
